Gov. Rick Scott wants to boost funding for Visit Florida to $100 million, an amount that could be unpopular with House members.
Visit Florida was on the chopping block last session as House Republicans tried to zero out the program.
House Speaker Richard Corcoran said that tax dollars should not be used to fund tourism marketing.
As part of a last-minute budget deal, the House and Senate agreed to fully fund the program at $76 million in return for adding new transparency measures to the program.
Scott included the $100 million for Visit Florida as part of his $87.4 billion budget proposal for 2018-19. He released the budget proposal this morning.
